smiles of the hotel staff very good, that alone has helped cover any shortcomings.

beyond expectation for the room. Breakfast has so many varieties, but if possible could provide traditional drinks like jamu. For bed so comfort.

First, traditional drinks like jamu are not provided. Secondly, for the room sometimes 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 bottles of mineral water were provided in the room, why not steady?...fruits if free on the table every day would be great.

Excellent hotel for a relaxing holiday.

The front office manager Susi was very helpful. The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with wide variety of food. The facilities in the room and the comfort was good. We felt relaxed and restful during our stay there

A Medan classic definitely a great pick if you get a good rate

The staff members were very friendly and had a great attitude. In the case they could not answer a question right-away they asked their colleagues and got back to us. The gym facilities and pool area are a great plus. The sauna, steam room, showers are well maintained. We had a room on the 20th floor which gave us a great view over Medan. It was a good decision to book breakfast on top of our original booking. The buffet included options for all kinds of taste preferences: Western, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese.

Some parts of the facilities are a little bit older, some newer. Various design styles co-exist

Best central hotel in Medan

Great central hotel which is really good value for money. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Attached bathroom with everything you need and a fabulous powerful shower. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice of foods and attentive service. The staff are very friendly welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The first room we were shown was a little bit dirty with sticky surfaces and sticky marks on the armchair. We were however moved immediately to a different room which was absolutely fine. The "lift" music which is played in the breakfast room is quite loud and intrusive.

Great place, nice room, put a spa inside the king-rooms

The breakfast was great, except for the fact, when milk requested was coffee, it either took too long, or it didn’t come. The breakfast manager asked me, milk for your coffee sir? Yes please, I waited, and he never came back to me Also shocked to find tattered napkins on a dining room table, in a luxury hotel.

When I had to ask for milk for my coffee, then get it myself, eventually. No spa, inside the king room The cards for lift, and room access, were so annoying, no easy insert, insert, take it out, many times, before they would work. Annoying

Best central hotel

Great central location with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Very comfortable room and extra large bed. Fantastic shower and clean bathroom. Very good value for money. We managed to get a good deal paying the same price for executive room as for deluxe. Whilst the rooms are the same the executive room gives access to the executive lounge with complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres . We also had some free drinks in the lounge. The staff were courteous and super helpful.

The pool has very little space around it for loungers given the size of the hotel.

Great central location.

Great central location. Spacious, clean and very comfortable room with panoramic views. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The buffet breakfast offered a wide range of foods and was of good quality. I would stay again as it is good value for money and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Best hotel in Medan.

Breakfast was excellent. The friendly staff is particularly noteworthy. Special thanks go to Adji who made our stay unforgettable. In particular, the salad that Syahrur Rahim Harahap prepared for me every morning of our stay was indescribably good. I would love to know the recipe for his excellent dressing.

The service in the lounge could be improved.

Missing the little touches

There is a new shopping mall diagonally across from the hotel accessible by lighted crossings that are mostly adhered to except by the occasional errant motorcyclist. Aside from the mall the surrounding buildings do not seem to be doing well economically, we took a walk around a 2 block radius of the hotel and found most shops shuttered or otherwise gone out of business.

We had the breakfast buffet on Christmas Day. While the food selection was as good as the breakfast buffet the day before, I came away a little disappointed that there were nothing to indicate that this is breakfast ON Christmas Day. It would not have cost much to get the in house bakers to make little gingerbread men (and women), Christmas shaped sugar cookies, fruit cakes or other seasonal baked goods and present them as desert for all the kids who were there that morning. The child in me cried a little.

Fabulous staff

The staff really made our stay here. They were all incredibly welcoming and were there to help in any situation. The room was lovely, large, and very comfortable. There was a wide selection for the buffet breakfast, from all sorts of western to local eats. All in all we had a fabulous stay here.

Medan is a grimy city, with cars and motorbikes everywhere, and very polluted, Marriot or not.

We liked the reception area, and the room was nice with plenty of seating and a desk, plus a small round table.

We didn’t like that to order a salad you had to order it through room service. Also, all the smoothies and fruit drinks. There was ZERO hot water available for the bathtub! That made no sense, unless they were trying to discourage the use of the tub, than they did a great job. The food available in the common eatery at night is horrendous for vegetarians. They do not know western interests. They use too much salt, too much oil, and too much hot chilies. We’ve been to this hotel twice and the second time was as bad as the first, in terms of their restaurant. We didn’t try the JADE restaurant which is one of the three, because it looked very upscale and didn’t want to risk the disappointment. I guess the best option was to stay in our room and have food brought to us via room service which also costs more money. The sushi bar was ok. They were able to make my wife a nice vegetable roll, but they had limited hours and were not open for lunch.
